As part of the efforts undertaken by the National Office of Handicrafts to promote Tunisian handicrafts, strengthen their presence in export markets, and open up new opportunities for handicraft enterprises,
the Office, in coordination with the Embassy of Tunisia in Malta, participated in the design event held from 28 September to 3 October 2026 in Valletta, organized by the Maltese Crafts Foundation.
The Tunisian participation was presented in several prominent venues across Valletta, notably at the Aragon Hotel, the heritage venue, and the Valletta Design Cluster – Fortress Builders.
Samples of Tunisian handicraft creations and products were showcased in several specialties, including leather, plant fibres, and traditional handwoven textiles.
The participation highlighted the diversity of Tunisian handicraft products and their ability to combine the authenticity of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, innovation, and creativity, thereby enhancing their appeal to consumers, professionals, and international markets.
The event attracted a significant number of visitors from various nationalities, as well as residents of Malta, tourists, and people interested in handicrafts and design. It provided an opportunity to promote Tunisian products and showcase Tunisia’s rich and diverse handicraft heritage.
The event programme also featured a number of activities, meetings, and discussions focusing on contemporary design trends, innovation and product development, as well as the role of design in developing products and meeting the needs of international markets.
