Thursday 04 May 2023, Mr. Mohamed Cheikh Rouhah, the Governor of Manouba, accompanied by the Director-General of the National Office of Traditional Industries, inaugurated the event "Our Craft Heritage: an Economic Resource" organized by the Regional Delegation for Cultural Affairs in partnership with the Regional Delegation for Traditional Industries. The event takes place from the 4th to the 6th of May 2023 at the Craft Village in Dandan as part of the 32nd edition of the Heritage Month for the year 2023, with the participation of several craftsmen and craftswomen from the region.
In the presence of the delegates of Manouba, the Assistant Director of the National Office of Traditional Industries, the Regional Delegate for Cultural Affairs, and the Regional Delegate for Traditional Industries, the Governor inspected some of the displayed traditional products and engaged in conversations with the craftsmen and craftswomen, appreciating their efforts in promoting this sector.
The aim of organizing this exhibition is to provide an opportunity for craftsmen and craftswomen to promote their products and highlight the heritage and craftsmanship inventory through knowledge, practices, skills, and living traditions such as workshops, festivals, traditional dolls, herbal and flower distillation, embroidery, mosaics, Arabic calligraphy, decoration on various supports, decoration on ceramics and wood, the production of decorative products, engraved and painted metal products.
The program of this event, which runs until the 6th of the current month, includes training workshops to provide knowledge and skills to young people and those interested in the field through live workshops in endangered craft specialties. It also includes presenting a group of emerging youth projects and presentations by young entrepreneurs in the field of traditional industries, in addition to several interactive interventions, musical performances, and concluding with the distribution of participation certificates to those who contributed to the success of this event.
