As part of efforts to strengthen Tunisian-Algerian cooperation in the traditional crafts sector, and in implementation of the executive program of the cooperation agreement between the two countries for the 2024–2027 period, Mr. Riadh Lahmari, Deputy Director General—acting on behalf of the Director General of the National Office of Traditional Crafts—received an Algerian delegation on September 14, 2026. The delegation included the Director of the Chamber of Traditional Crafts and Trades for the Wilaya of Algiers, alongside a group of master artisans.
The meeting served as an opportunity for the exchange of experiences and expertise between the two sides. A technical session was held focusing on the production and processing of white clay used in the ceramics sector, aiming to explore ways to secure suitable raw materials, improve processing methods, and enhance the quality and competitiveness of ceramic products.
Following the technical session, the Algerian delegation visited the National Center for Artistic Ceramics at Zaouia Sidi Kacem Jellizi. There, they toured the facility and viewed the various artworks and products on display, while also learning about the Center’s theoretical and practical programs and its role in knowledge transfer, skills development, and capacity building.
The following day, a field visit to the Nabeul Governorate was organized, covering several production workshops. This allowed the delegation to observe the various manufacturing stages and techniques employed, and to benefit from Tunisian expertise in the field.
