As part of efforts to support artisans and develop their professional skills,
a training session in olive wood decoration began on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, at the olive wood craft village in Sidi Bouzid, benefiting a group of local artisans.
This initiative is part of the implementation of the agreement signed between the National Office of Handicrafts and the Swisscontact organization under the TAKWEEN programme, implemented by the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment.
The training aims to strengthen artisans’ capabilities, develop their technical skills, and improve the quality of handicraft products. It also seeks to enhance the value of olive wood as a local raw material with significant added value, while preserving and developing the distinctive features of Tunisia’s handicraft heritage to meet market requirements.
This initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote the development of handicraft activities and strengthen the competitiveness of traditional products.
