🇹🇳 A Taste of Tunisia in the Heart of Belgrade! 🇷🇸
The Embassy of Tunisia in Serbia proudly hosted on Thursday June 12th,2025, a special evening at Villa Jelena under the theme "Road to the Balkans: Tunisian Taste, Mediterranean Atmosphere", celebrating Tunisia’s rich culinary heritage, handicrafts, and tourists destination.
Held in the presence of H.E. Mr. Damjan Jović, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Nikola Stojanović, State Secretary for External and Internal Trade, and Vice-President of the National Assembly, Mr. Edin Đerlek, the event brought together, government representatives, members of Parliament, Ambassadors and diplomats accredited to Serbia, cultural, economic and media partners, and friends of Tunisia.
The goal was to promote not only the cultural richness of Tunisia, but also its high-quality terroir products, offering great economic potential:
🔹 Tunisian olive oil: Tunisia is the 3rd largest producer worldwide, the 2nd largest exporter, and the leading global producer of organic olive oil. The country is home to olive trees that are over 2,500 years old and still producing olives to this day.
🔹 Tunisian wine (Viticulture): Tunisia has been producing wine for over 2,000 years, dating back to Mago (Magon), the Carthaginian agronomist known as the father of agricultural engineering, whose treatise shaped Mediterranean viticulture.
🔹  Tunisian dates, especially the famous “Deglet Nour”, known as the “queen of dates,” appreciated worldwide for their superior taste and nutritional value. Tunisia is the 2nd largest exporter of dates in the world & 1st largest exporter of the Deglet Nour variety.
🔹  Seafood products: fresh and processed, including delicacies from the Mediterranean that reflect Tunisia’s rich maritime tradition. Tunisian Tuna and Sardines are known of their premium quality and unique flavor.
🔹  Handicrafts: Tunisia’s rich artisanal tradition was showcased through a representative of Tunisian National Handicrafts Office (ONAT). The artisans present came specially from Tunisia to share their know-how and passion for traditional crafts.
A wide range of authentic products: fruits, seafood, canned goods, all featured in a refined tasting menu curated by Chef Mounir Arem, one of Tunisia’s finest chefs and a UN Tourism Culinary Ambassador.
The evening was elevated by traditional Tunisian music performed live by artist Ahmed Abid, who came from Tunisia to share this joyful spirit.
